TRANSPARENCY IN UTILIZATION OF THE NATIONAL HOUSING FUND: STAKEHOLDERS ENGAGEMENT AND ACCOUNTABILITY

 


In a bid to shed light on the utilization of the National Housing Fund and address concerns regarding non-remittance, the Ad-Hoc Committee on Non-Remittance to the National Housing Fund, under the dedicated leadership of Hon. Dachung Musa Bagos, has embarked on a critical mission. This committee, which also includes Hon. Aliyu Mustapha Abdullahi, a respected member representing Ikara/Kubau Federal Constituency, Kaduna state, has invited a host of stakeholders to participate in a series of public hearings. Below is a comprehensive list of the stakeholders, along with the dates they are scheduled to appear before the committee:

Each stakeholder has been requested to provide the Committee with one (1) soft copy and twenty (20) hard copies of the following crucial documents:


a. Evidence of remittance to the National Housing Fund.

b. Detailed records of the amount remitted from 2011 to the present date.

c. Information on beneficiaries, if applicable.


The Committee underscores the importance of compliance with this invitation. Failure to appear before the committee may result in the issuance of warrants against defaulting agencies and companies. This investigation is instrumental in promoting transparency and accountability in the National Housing Fund's utilization, which is pivotal in addressing Nigeria's housing needs.
